These small oil paintings, purchased at a fair in Rio de Janeiro,
provided the inspiration for the colors used in the kitchen.
It started with a sine wave image copied from the Internet.
The image was extended and extraneous lines were removed using MS Paint.
Then the band was widened and given a 3-D ribbon appearance.
Then the band was stretched into a longer wave.
A second band was added but this looked too busy.
The outline was removed and a color gradient was added as a background.
The design was reduced to the correct height with a white border at top and bottom. The result: a horizontal band of orange and yellow particles behind the blue/green wave pattern.
